There is constant activity on the forest floor. Spiders and scorpions prey on cockroaches, crickets, and other small insects. Termites feed on dead wood, leaf litter, mosses, bark and lichens. Large animals, like the tapir or elephant, move slowly through the forest using their nose or trunk as a foraging tool.
On a few small isolated Indonesian islands, the world's largest lizard lumbers over the ground in search of deer, pigs, buffalo, and snakes. An impressive predator, the Komodo dragon has a powerful body, an enormous wedge-shaped tail, and long, black talons.
